Citrus and pine over something sweet and resinous. Palo santo burns softer than most incense, and a cone fills a room faster than a stick without needing to be tended.
Palo santo is Bursera graveolens, a tree from the dry forests of Ecuador. Ours is fallen wood, gathered off the forest floor after it has aged there for four to ten years. The aging is what develops the resin, which is why this wood is collected rather than cut.
How to Use
Light the tip, let it flame for a few seconds, then blow it out. Set it on a heatproof dish and let it smolder.
