Seasonal Studio Assistant

Slow North · Austin, TX · Part-time, seasonal

Slow North has been making non-toxic candles, linen sprays, bath salts and soaps by hand in Austin since 2015, for our local community and customers well beyond it. We're adding one person to the studio team to help us through the holidays.

The work

Floating pre- and post-production assistance. Prepping vessels and setting wicks, labeling, lidding, boxing soaps, filling and capping linen sprays. Some days you'll float into soft goods, filling neck wraps and eye masks, or help fulfillment pack orders, or restock the shop floor.

We'll train you on all of it. No prior production experience needed.

It's steady, hands-on work in a quiet studio. We don't play music in the studio, so most of us put in headphones and a good podcast and get to it.

The details

  • 3 days a week to start, Monday through Friday

  • 4-hour shifts between 10:00am and 3:00pm

  • $18/hour

  • Starts late September, runs through December 31, 2026

  • Weekend shift opportunities open up in November and December as the holidays pick up, and there may be a 4th day available then

  • Could potentially continue part-time into 2027

  • On-site at 5555 N. Lamar Blvd, Suite E-109

Who we're looking for

Steady hands and a good eye. Someone who can hear "these need to be redone" without it ruining their afternoon.

The person who's good at this notices the label that's a hair crooked before it goes in the box.

We'll teach you the process. You bring the part that makes you check it twice.

It helps if you already pay attention to what goes into the products you bring home, and if working for a small company sounds better to you than working for a big one.

A few things to know

You'll be mostly on your feet the whole shift, lifting up to 45 lbs (boxes of wax, bags of lentils), doing repetitive work with your hands. The studio smells like essential oils all day. If this may bother you, this won't be a comfortable place to spend four hours.

To apply

Email your resume to community@slownorth.mom

Tell us which weekdays you're free, whether weekends in November and December could work for you, and one sentence about something you've made recently.
